Happiness through my eyes.

I am starting a new project with a few photography friends.  Every month we will post some of the images we take and link these via a monthly blog circle.  The theme is ‘Happiness through my eyes’

I am not talking about the big stuff here, things like ensuring your loved ones are safe, your health and your financial security.  I am talking about what makes you feel uplifted, gives you joy, just simple happiness…

So how do I quantify happiness and how do I decide on a theme to represent it?   The choices were wide ranging but dependent on so many variables.  Perhaps I am inherently fickle but what can make me happy one day may not the next..

So this month I have discovered that my triggers for happiness are not quite so stereotypical as I may have expected them to be.    The image below was an early morning walk after a storm.  I watched my children prepare to go out, raincoats were encouraged but the youngest ended up in her older sisters fur jacket.  Too big for her it covered her hands and meant she didn’t have to wear gloves.  She was so pleased when I said she could wear it,  running out, jumping and squealing with delight as she sloshed through the sodden ground into the fog.  Whilst I watched her she suddenly stopped, raised her face to the sky, closed her eyes and stood motionless.   I will never know what went through her mind at this point but this moment, in fact the entire cold, damp soggy time we spent outside, represents a small portion of happiness, through my eyes.

Louise, I just keep coming back to look at your post for January. I love everything about it and how adorable is your littlest in her huge coat and wellies. That first shot is a wonderful capture. The way you say what actually triggers happiness is so true. I look forward to February now xxReplyCancel
